Laser or Electrolysis?

YOU HAVE OPTIONS THAT WILL GIVE YOU A SMOOTHER BODY & GET RID OF UNWANTED HAIR

After years of shaving and waxing, imagine a procedure that offers permanent results

There are lots of ways to get rid of unwanted hair, but they can be painful, messy, and only temporary.  After years of depending on shaving, waxing, and tweezing, imagine a procedure that offers permanent results.

Laser Hair Removal

With laser hair removal, you can rid yourself of those unwanted hairs for good.  Enhanced Cosmetics uses up-to-date laser technology, and the treatment is performed by highly qualified technicians.

Common treatment locations include legs, underarms, upper lip, chin and bikini line. However, it's possible to treat unwanted hair in nearly any area - except the eyelid or surrounding area. Hair colour and skin type influence the success of laser hair removal. For example, laser hair removal is most effective for people who have light skin and dark hair because the laser beam targets the pigment (melanin) in the hair. However, advances in technology have made laser hair removal an option for people who have darker skin.

Laser hair removal isn't generally effective for white, gray, red or blond hair because the laser can't 'see' the lighter hair. However, Electrolysis is a good option for these hair colours.

Electrolysis

Electrolysis is the removal of unwanted hair by the means of a safe electrical current. We use both blend and thermolysis which is a heat current that cauterises the hair base and destroys the follicle.

You will need to have a course of treatments before the hairs will completely stop growing as there are three different stages of hair growth. Electrolysis works on all hair types and suits all skin types. After the treatment some people may experience sensitivity, redness and swelling. This is completely normal because of the heat used in the treatment. Ice is used straight after the treatment to calm and sooth this type of reaction.

Most areas of the body can be treated with electrolysis, including the eyebrows, face, abdomen, thighs, breasts, and legs.  Electrolysis will permanently remove unwanted hair to reveal a glowing, confident you.

What to Expect with Laser Hair Removal

A hand-held laser instrument will be pressed to your skin. Depending on the type of laser, a cooling device on the tip of the instrument or a cool gel might be used to protect your skin. When the laser is activated, the laser beam will pass through your skin to the tiny sacs (follicles) where hair growth originates. The intense heat from the laser beam damages the hair follicles, which inhibits hair growth. Some discomfort in the skin is possible, and you'll likely feel a sensation of cold from the cooling device or gel. Treating a small area, such as the upper lip, might take only a few minutes. Treating a larger area, such as the back, might take several hours.

You might notice redness and swelling for the first few hours after laser hair removal. To reduce any discomfort, apply ice to the treated area. If you have a skin reaction immediately after laser hair removal, the clinician might apply an ointment to the affected area.  After laser hair removal, avoid sun exposure - both natural sunlight and tanning beds. When your skin has healed, use sunscreen whenever you're in the sun. You might also prepare yourself for possible hair shedding in the first few days and weeks after treatment. This can sometimes be mistaken for hair regrowth.

What to Expect with Electrolysis

Prepare to return to receive electrolysis several times. Each cycle of hair growth must be treated separately, which means no waxing or tweezing in between and making sure the hair is at the required length for each visit. You may experience some discomfort during the procedure, and as treatments progress, a stronger wave may be requried. After each electrolysis procedure, you should see a notable difference in the density of hair in the treated area. Treatments continue until the hair is gone or at least insignificant enough to no longer be embarrassing or a hassle.

If you have any questions at all, ask your skin care consultant who knows all the differences between Laser Hair Removal and Electrolysis and can tell you which would be best for you.
